Running errands for housebound neighbours, teaching at supplementary schools or fundraising for earthquake victims in another country. Harrow would be a poorer place without its volunteer network. To celebrate the work of Harrow's many volunteers, Harrow Council is hosting Harrow 's Heroes, an award ceremony and celebration to honour the work of our special community volunteers.

"Harrow's Heroes has been created by Harrow Council as a positive celebration of the amazing contribution of all Harrow 's volunteers. The work volunteers do in our community often goes unnoticed, setting up Harrow's Heroes is a fitting way to pay tribute to hundreds of men and women, of all ages, religions and cultural backgrounds, who work behind the scenes to make Harrow a great place to live and work." Councillor Anjana Patel.

Mrs Janice Main was nominated and shortlisted in the Governor Category for all the good work she does behind the scenes on behalf of the school.

She was surprised but delighted to have been chosen as the winner at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 7th May. The award was presented by Councillor David Ashton who said " Mrs Main's nomination had set a very high standard in the Governor Award for next year".

Each nominee was challenged to bring another volunteer to the borough.
