Stag Lane Schools' new play ground "Petal Shelter"

As part of their drive for healthy living and to encourage children to walk to school Stag Lane Middle School Pupil Council drove forward their playground refurbishment plans by asking for a Sun and Rain Shelter.   The pupils were delighted when Mrs. Will, headteacher of the First School , agreed to support the scheme by using their Travel Plan Grant towards its cost.

Funding was made available towards the cost by Transport for London School Travel Plan together with a small grant from Harrow Council.  The shelter has two aims - to encourage parents to walk to school to collect their children at the end of the school day and wait for them under the shelter which will protect them from both sun and rain and to provide a quiet area for children to sit at playtimes.

The official opening took place on Tuesday 9th October when members of both school councils as well as the Head boy, Daniel Daggett and Head girl, Bhavini Gohil both aged 11 years, cut the ribbon. The shelter is bright blue and has yellow covers at the top resembling flower petals.
