The School Travel Plan
The health, fitness and safety of all our pupils is very important to us. We therefore use every opportunity to encourage our pupils and parents to use sustainable transport on the journey to school where ever possible.
WOW
The school has registered to take part in the Walk on Wednesday Scheme. The pupils record their journeys to school and are awarded badges each month.
To date over 100 badges have been awarded.
PARK AND STRIDE
Why not keep fit and help reduce congestion around the school at the same time, by parking away from the school and walking the last half a mile!
You can meet your friends and walk together. It’s fun and helps keep you fit at the same time.
CYCLE TRAINING Cycling Training is a great way of getting in shape!
Six of our Year 6 and 7 pupils took part in cycle training held at the school last autumn and now regularly cycle to school. Even Mrs Evans took part in the adult cycle training—and it was all FREE!
Look out for other sessions taking place in the borough during the spring and summer holidays. For more details contact: Harrow Road Safety 020 8424 1640. We hope that more training sessions will take place in the autumn at Stag Lane.
Theatre in Education
WHAT IF IT RAINS? A show about the benefits of walking to school
Pupils and staff were entertained by Quantum Theatre who came to school in December to share an important lesson. The show, though very amusing, had a serious message. If we abandon the car we will have: Less Congestion; Less Pollution; Safer Roads; Fitter and Healthier Nation; Higher Achievement at school.
NOW YOU SEE ME. Additionally, Year 7 pupils have taken part in workshops and presentations arranged by TfL to educate children in Road safety as they make their transfer to High Schools
HOW DO YOU TRAVEL TO SCHOOL?
In March 2007 61% of pupils walked to school. When we re-surveyed everyone in January 2008, we discovered that 72% of children now walk to school. Well done to all those of you who are walking everyday.

All pupils approaching the age of 11 are encouraged to apply for the Oyster Photocard. Application forms are available from Mrs Cook in the office.
This will allow all 11-15 year olds free transport on London busses & trams and pay child rate on the tube & DLR.
For children under 10. If you are travelling unaccompanied by an adult, you can still travel free on the buses and tubes, but you need a 5-10 Oyster Photocard
