Behaviour in School

Our Behaviour Policy aims to encourage children to take responsibility for their behaviour and thus develop into responsible and caring adults.  It is based the strong belief that every child has a right to learn and that good behaviour is a major contributor towards children achieving high standards.

We therefore strive to create the best learning environment where children feel safe and valued.

We encourage children to :-

  • Move around the school quietly and sensibly,

  • be proud of their personal appearance,

  • respect each other's personal belongings

  • be well mannered and polite, e.g. hold doors open for each other and say please and thank you.

  • come up the stairs on the left to avoid accidents

  • help keep their classrooms clean and tidy

There are three basic rules which everyone is expected to follow (the Three Rs):

Respect for yourself

Respect for others

Responsibility for our own actions

These rules are reinforced continuously through assemblies, PSHE lessons and Circle Time.  Good behaviour is celebrated through our various rewards system, which include Star of the Week, Special Lunch and “Marbles”.

There are obviously consequences for children who do not follow the Three Rs.  Sanctions include Time Out in the classroom and at lunchtime, time in the Reflection Room.

Parents are involved wherever possible, both in informing them when their child is behaving well or when support is required.

Anti Bullying

We take bullying very seriously and our anti bullying statement and full Behaviour Policy can be viewed in the School Office on this website.

Anti Racism

We promote understanding and respect for other people's cultural identity and beliefs. Any incident of a racist nature will be considered serious and be reported to the Local Authority. All policies and aspects of the curriculum promote inclusion for all.
