In the summer term, Year 4 went on a trip to Clay Lane Environment Centre and
Aldenham
Country
Park to help us with learning about our topic of HABITATS. It was great fun and we learned a lot about local animals and where they like to live and why.
At
Clay Lane we took part in a minibeast hunt. There was a zoo right under our feet at
Clay Lane and we explored it. We carefully collected minibeasts and identified them using a key.
One of the best parts was pond dipping. We used nets to dip in the seasonal pond and found lots of interesting creatures from tadpoles to pond lice! Some of them we had never seen before so we used a key to identify them again.
Aldenham
Country
Park is a very interesting place. We began by going on a nature trail where we looked at different habitats, vegetation and even some trees that had been struck by lightening. There were also some interesting carvings. Can you guess what they are from the pictures?
We then took a trip to the Farm and although this wasn't the animals? natural habitat we enjoyed looking and touching animals we had not seen before. Even the pigs!
It was a great day and we would recommend anyone to visit these places.
