Year 7 pupils have been focussing on cyclic patterns within drumming. They have learnt to compose their own cyclic rhythms, improvising, playing a rhythm and responding to it and then linking and ordering these rhythms into a piece of music. Each composition had to consist of a signal, a main section (up to 3 different rhythms played at the same time), a break, a call and response (where 1 member of the group improvised and the all the others responded with a set rhythm) and then a return to the main section with a slight difference (e g change of dynamics of tempo) and a signal to end. Here are 2 groups that composed their own cyclic  patterns.
